Publishing the starting numbers before doing any work removes the option of quietly picking a flattering start date later. If this experiment fails, it should fail where people can see it.
Every measurement from here is compared against this one. It was taken before a line of the new site went live, straight from Google’s own figures, using only settled data so the numbers cannot quietly change later.
What it describes is a website that Google is perfectly happy to show, and that almost nobody clicks. Eighteen thousand appearances producing twenty-six visits works out at about one visit for every seven hundred times we were shown. That is what page four looks like from the inside: visible to Google, invisible to people.
The thing this site gets shown for most is website maintenance and support. That is a useful accident, because it is also exactly what Autopilot does.
Result
In the 90 days to 2 September 2026 this site was shown in Google 18,001 times and got 26 visits from it, sitting on average around page four. Taken from Google's own figures for the site, before a single change was made.
